Alice’s Apartment

The mind is an infinite thing, but just as in mathematics, some infinities are bigger than others. Jumping into Wonderland, Alice went from seeing the natural world — the infinite natural numbers — to being able to see the infinite space between zero and one. We all want to be Alice. I feel like I’ve been her before, staring up and down to a world that made no sense, but was filled with amazing, incomprehensible wonder.

This song does not rhyme, as the words are almost directly copied from a real life conversation I had, to the best of my memory. You can figure out the rest from there.

One last thing: the secrets of love are revealed in pure serendipity.

I’ll take you into a place you know, but never been to

If you ever do it, promise me you’ll be prepared

It’s a place with neon lights in the dark

Where we decompress

I bet you’ll think it was a dream

I’m on the downhill still, but I’ll take you to the Alice Apartment

Our private paradise

There’s no double meaning, I swear

It’s not a game

But if you want to unravel religion

Merely take my hand

We’ll wander through phantasm worlds

I never dared to explore

Sifting through darkness under the strawberry moon

The memory’s fleeting, but I’ll take you to the Alice Apartment

Yeah!

You never truly love someone until you hold them tight

And imagine every nerve and meat and bone

As you look inside, you will realise

And tell them just how lucky you are

Just how lucky you are

On the downhill still, but I’ll take you to the Alice Apartment

We will see the sun rise

I’ll take you into a place you know, but never been to

If you ever do it, promise me you’ll be prepared

We’ll wonder through phantasm worlds I never dared to explore

Strolling in darkness under any kind of moon

Hold my hand and smile and we’ll run to the Alice Apartment

I’ll make sure you learn the way, yeah
