A native of Brasília, Brazil, and of the first years of a new millenium, Ruby & Rose grew up surrounded by music of all eras and styles. Rock and roll, however, has always been the strongest calling. Having picked up the guitar at age 12 and studied the instrument for years with some of Brasília’s finest guitar players at Marcelo Barbosa’s Instituto GTR, the affinity soon spread to other instruments and types of artistic expression. 

A prolific songwriter with an extensive back catalogue of both released and as-of-yet unreleased music, and accomplished performer, they have been a member of the respected underground black metal band Florbela and of a number of up-and-coming Brasília rock and metal groups, musical projects which challenge the limits of extreme music, introducing genre-bending elements and entrancing live performances.

Rose wrote, recorded, produced and released their first album and two EPs, and was the sole songwriter and core recording force behind 2025’s Dreaming of Roses, which they co-produced with Gustavo Albuquerque. Since that year, they’ve been working to bring that creative power to the stage, building truly mesmerising live concerts.

A published writer, with poetry published in national and regional collections plus two books debuted at Feira do Livro de Brasília, including 2019’s chronicle compilation Fuga ao Tema, poetry and storytelling have been a constant in their artistic output, which shows up in the multilayered lyrics full of images and symbolism.
